Empowering communities and destinations through responsible ecotourism

We design training programs to capacitate destination managers, managers of protected areas, and other tourism stakeholders on principles of responsible, community-based ecotourism.

These may be done in person or as virtual sessions. Below is a brief course guideline for the basics of ecotourism:

COURSE 1: Ecotourism 101
COURSE 2: Ecotourism as business
COURSE 3: Visitor infrastructure and services
COURSE 4: Management of Tourism-related Environmental Impacts
COURSE 5: Local participation and benefits in ecotourism
(Need the ones below)

More comprehensive capacity building sessions may be done and training programs may be customized depending on the need of partners. A full-on ecotourism development plan may also be facilitated. These include:

  • Resource mapping
  • Community planning and organizational development
  • Site interpretation and education
  • Eco guides training

WHAT DO WE HOPE TO ACCOMPLISH?

  • Transform destinations into community-centered, environmentally-conscious, inclusive, and self-sustaining destinations
  • Conservation of natural and cultural heritage in destinations through contributions of ecotourism
  • Empowered and engaged local communities who are at the forefront of ecotourism management and development
  • Strengthen leadership, organizational management, problem-solving, communication skills of community members involved.
